This request for proposals seeks a design team to assist the City of Richmond and stakeholders to reposition the existing architecture and configuration of the existing 17th St. Farmer’s Market and First Market Square into an open urban square that better relates to its immediate surroundings and is more flexible to multiple programmed uses including, but not limited to, public art, family activity, outdoor dining, visual and performance festivals and daily community gathering. The City of Richmond and stakeholders seek a team experienced in not only the design of the urban square but who is proven and experienced with establishing policies and programming conducive to successful urban spaces within the team’s portfolio.
