Blight Busting Program

The Blight Busting Program is a city-led initiative to revitalize Syracuse’s neighborhoods by addressing problem properties, enhancing community aesthetics, and ensuring compliance with property conservation codes. This program is crucial in improving residents' quality of life while fostering economic opportunities for local businesses, including MWBEs. The Department of Neighborhood and Business Development (NBD) will identify non-code compliant properties and contract with qualified local businesses to complete exterior renovations, including but not limited to addressing siding, windows, porches, stairs, and railing. Vendors selected through RFQ#24-265 will join a pool of pre-approved contractors who will bid on projects as NBD and Code Enforcement designate properties. Upon project completion, the city will pay contractors directly, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process. This initiative presents an excellent opportunity for local businesses to contribute to neighborhood revitalization while securing municipal contracts.
