Description?
Introduction and Overview: The subcontractor must provide all labor, oversight, tools, materials, equipment, and services necessary to complete the work safely and in compliance with approved BIO documents as well as SLAC, DOE, and ES&H standards. SLAC receives power at its Master Substation (MSS) from a PG&E 230kV transmission line via two 230kV/12.47kV stepdown transformers. SLAC identifies that its AC power system encounters power factor issues at the point of connection (POC) with PG&E, where the power factor strays outside the contractual range (0.97 lag to 0.99 lead). This deviation stems from various factors, including reactive power imbalances, capacitive or inductive loads, etc. Consequently, suboptimal power factor conditions can result in increased power losses, reduced system efficiency, and involve potential penalties imposed by PG&E. To address this challenge, SLAC plans to implement power factor correction measures through the installation of two switched power factor correction (PFC) systems – one on 12.47 kV Bus-1 and another on 12.47kV Bus-2 at the Master Substation (MSS). These PFC units will dynamically improve reactive power flow, compensating for system reactive power demand, and maintaining the overall power factor within the required range. Enhancing power factor correction in this manner will optimize energy utilization, reduce system losses, and ensure continued compliance with PG&E contractual requirements. Purpose: Prior to the installation of the new power factor correction equipment, it is necessary to demolish existing buildings (B308 and B311) with equipment inside them to create adequate space within the MSS Yard. This Statement of Work outlines the scope for the demolition, disassembly, and removal of existing assets, including metal buildings B308 and B311, a non-operational synchronous condenser, and the associated electrical equipment and cabling and wiring serving the condenser. All identified buildings and equipment are located in the SLAC MSS Yard. THIS IS FOR SOURCES SOUGHT ONLY, DO NOT SUMBIT BIDS. While the draft RFP package has been included with this post, the RFP has not been released. Interested vendors should express their interest by sending their capabilities statement to Doreen Agbayani at doreena@slac.stanford.edu.
