The C-17 System Program Office (SPO) has a requirement for a system that can capture all data that is present across all data buses and fuel quantity computers of the C-17 aircraft. The Database Recording System (DBRS) effort (AF 1067, AMC 19-158) would retrofit the United States Air Force (USAF) C-17 fleet with Line Replaceable Units (LRU) to record the data bus traffic on the C-17 bus network. This comprehensive aircraft data collection system will record, transfer and retain all databus traffic on the C-17. As part of this effort, the hardware first needs to be procured. Once the hardware is procured, installs will be accomplished in the field as the LRU will connect to a wiring harness permanently installed on the aircraft. At this time, national stock numbers (NSN) and part numbers are unknown as this effort will be competitively sourced. The procurement strategy would be to purchase the LRU and spares for all 222 of the USAF C-17 fleet. Twelve testing articles for Boeing Avionics Integration Support Facility (AISF) and USAF flight tests (7 LRUs and 5 spares) will also be procured to support integration. Three kits and one spare will be procured by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Airlift Management Program (NAMP) to support its fleet. The total number of LRUs will be 257 (222 for the USAF C-17 fleet, 5 Boeing AISF, 3 NAMP, and 27 spares).
