FY27 New Jersey Regional Signal Retiming
dvrpc / Transportation Planning
Description
The New Jersey Regional Signal Retiming project will improve traffic flow, safety, and mobility on key county and local arterial corridors by updating and optimizing signal timing plans. Signal retiming is recognized by the Federal Highway Administration as one of the most cost-effective strategies to reduce delay, improve coordination, and enhance overall transportation system performance. Through this Request for Proposals (RFP), the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) intends to hire a consultant to conduct a corridor prioritization process in order to develop and implement updated signal timing plans on Routes 500 and 600 in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, and Mercer counties. The program will also include the purchase and installation of GPS clocks in signal controllers to maintain precise coordination and protect timing investments, while corridor owner-operators will be responsible for maintaining the timing plans following implementation.
