Biosolids Incinerator Ash Excavation, Removal and Hauling Services
neorsd / Operations and Maintenance
Description
Under the terms of this bid, the bidder shall be capable of providing services for the excavation and hauling of up to 66,000 tons of Biosolids Incinerator Ash (BIA) from the Southerly Wastewater Treatment Center (SWWTC) Ash Lagoons. BIA is generated every day, year-round at SWWTC. Approximately 33,000 cubic yards of BIA is generated each year and is stored in the ash lagoons. The accumulated BIA in the lagoons must be removed to allow room for new BIA. Each lagoon holds approximately 33,000 cubic yards of BIA. SWWTC is the largest of the Sewer District's wastewater treatment plants and is located at 6000 Canal Road, Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio. SWWTC serves a population of more than 601,000 in the Greater Cleveland area with an average daily flow of 125 million gallons per day (mgd). The facility can provide complete treatment to a maximum of 400 mgd, and an additional 335 mgd of wastewater can receive primary treatment. The plant receives wastewater 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The plant also receives and processes biosolids from the Easterly Wastewater Treatment Plant (Easterly WWTP). The Sewer District's goal is the maximize the amount of BIA beneficially reused, rather than hauling and disposing this material to a solid waste landfill. Landfilling is considered as an alternative option if the BIA material is unable to be reused by the Professional Services contract. This quantity is the estimate needed for a two (2) year period or until funds are appropriated to this contract are exhausted, whichever should occur first. By submission of this bid, the bidder warrants that it is understood that this estimate was prepared by the Sewer District for the purpose of comparison of bids and that the estimated quantity is not guaranteed. SWWTC is in operation seven (7) days per week, 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. All bidders must provide a 24-hour contact name and phone number on letterhead paper, with their bid.
