Citywide Historic Context Statement & Historic Resources Survey

Description

The City of Pasadena is seeking proposals from historic preservation consulting firms or teams of firms to prepare a Citywide Historic Context Statement and conduct a Citywide Historic Resources Survey. The mission of the project is to provide a comprehensive source of information about the types of resources that are significant to all aspects of the City’s history and to identify buildings, structures, objects, sites and districts that meet the criteria for historical designation in the City’s Historic Preservation Ordinance or for listing on the California Register of Historic Resources or the National Register of Historic Places. The Historic Context Statement would consolidate, update and add to the City's current library of Historic Context Reports and the Historic Resources Survey would seek to identify historic resources on properties over 45 years of age that are not already designated as historic resources at the City, State or National level (approximately 22,000 parcels of approximately 40,000 total parcels in the City). The project shall be conducted following State and National standards, including Writing Historic Contexts , Marie Nelson, California Office of Historic Preservation; OHP Preferred Format for Historic Context Statements , California Office of Historic Preservation; National Register Bulletin 24 - Guidelines for Local Surveys: A Basis for Preservation Planning , and Secretary of the Interior's Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and Historic Preservation. The selected firm(s) and all involved staff shall meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications for historian or architectural historian as set forth in 36 CFR Part 61, Appendix A. The project will also involve preparation and implementation of a public outreach plan to engage with a wide variety of the City's constituencies using as many venues as possible to ensure that all Pasadena residents are aware of the project and their ability to participate in it.
