Collection and Disposal of Automotive Fluids
seminolefl / Environmental Services - Solid Waste Management
Description
Seminole County Solid Waste Management Division (SWMD) operates an integrated solid waste management system that includes County owned transfer station and landfill. The two facilities include a household hazardous waste (HHW) at the Central Transfer Station (CTS) and public used oil collection center (PUOCC) at the Osceola Road Landfill (OLF), respectively. Both the HHW and PUOCC are self-service collection centers for residents of Seminole County and the cities of Maitland and Winter Park to bring a variety of potentially hazardous materials. Automotive waste fluids such as used oil, used oil filters, antifreeze, unwanted gas, and other automotive waste products are dropped off at our self-service facilities at the CTS and OLF on a daily basis. In addition, Fleet Maintenance, two County Water and Wastewater Treatment plants, the Fleet and Facilities Division, and the Sheriff's Office operate vehicle and/or equipment maintenance facilities that accumulate used oil, oil filters, antifreeze, hydraulic fluids, solvents and unwanted fuels.
