Description
The City of Tucson is seeking proposals for a private firm to provide intergovernmental services and represent the City as its designated contract lobbyist at the Arizona State legislature and Arizona State Government. This firm will be responsible for developing, representing, and advocating for the interests of the City of Tucson by fostering and maintaining the City's relationships with the Office of the Governor, State legislators, State governmental entities and other Arizona local governments, organizations, utilities, and private sector partners with similar or opposing interests. The Consultant will represent the City in all areas of municipal government service including finance, transportation, water, environmental services, police, fire, and parks and recreation among others. Tucson operates with a Council-Manager form of government, is the county seat of Pima County and is the home to the University of Arizona. Tucson’s population is approximately 540,000 within a metropolitan region of just over one million people. Tucson is the second-largest city in Arizona behind Phoenix, anchoring the southern portion of the Arizona Sun Corridor. The city is located 118 miles southeast of Phoenix and 60 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. Tucson is the 33rd largest city and the 53rd largest metropolitan area in the United States. Tucson Water provides water service to over 703,000 people both within and outside the City of Tucson and has the largest Municipal and Industrial allocation of water from the Central Arizona Project (CAP).
