PWP Sixth-Grade Energy and Water Efficiency Education Program Services
pasadena / Water & Power Department
Description
The City of Pasadena is seeking a qualified vendor to provide energy and water educational programming services to schools within the Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) service territory. The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals from qualified vendors for development and management of a turnkey energy and water efficiency education program for sixth-grade students. Based on this RFP, PWP intends to award a single contract to the responsible vendor whose proposal, conforming to this RFP, is most advantageous to the utility, price and other factors considered. The successful firm will be awarded a two (2)-year contract with three (3) additional optional one year extensions for a total of up to five (5) years, as determined by PWP. The scope of work includes program marketing, scheduling, implementation, and evaluation. Upon completion of the RFP process, work will begin immediately to implement the education program by the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. The purpose of this program is to educate sixth-grade students within PWP service territory about energy and water efficiency through the implementation of an education program that meets state and federal education standards within their schools, with the end goal of promoting energy and water literacy, conservation, and efficiency. Curriculum should include locally based lessons, online programming, student and teacher incentives, and an efficiency kit containing energy and water-saving devices for each student to implement in their home. Program objectives include the following: educate students and encourage them to become more thoughtful environmental stewards prepared for active citizenship with the wise use of electricity and water at home, engage students and their families in activities that support and reinforce learned water and energy efficiency concepts, provide teachers with the tools and resources needed to conduct engaging lessons regarding the wise use of electricity and water, provide appropriate incentives to encourage students, parents, and teacher participation for the program duration, provide PWP with an annual year-end summary report on water and energy savings information and data based on student responses, further enhance the PWP brand and profile in the community, and boost PWP customer satisfaction.
